Nanacast Review

Nanacast ReviewI’ve used Nanacast for about 18 months now, and I felt it was time to do a Nanacast review. In fact, I’ve built this whole Nanacast Review website because I truly, honestly believe Nanacast is a terrific product.

Now that we’ve got the results out of the way :) let’s get on with the Nanacast review.

Nanacast Features

Nanacast comes chock full of features. Compared to the far more expensive Infusionsoft, (full disclosure – which I do not have personal experience with) it stacks up very favorably. In fact, in many cases, you do things in Nanacast that you simply can’t dream of doing in Infusionsoft. For instance, automatically delivering a specific bonus to customers who purchased through a specific affiliate link… This can easily be setup and automated with Nanacast, but is not possible on other systems.

It would be rather tedious to list out and discuss all the great features available here in a Nanacast review, so I’ll spare you the tedium and let you have a look at those over on the Nanacast site.

That said, Nanacast integrates with most of the common payment processors, auto responders and several different fulfilment companies. They provide the ability to create full on membership sites with re-billing options, dripped content, customized bonuses, multiple chained upsells, incredible coupon options, affiliate management, sales reporting, and much more.

Honestly, it would take too long to explain everything Nanacast does, but if you have questions, leave a comment and I will clarify what I can.

Nanacast Tech Support

One of the key reasons I was prompted to created this Nanacast review site is because of their tech support. I’ve never come across a company as responsive to support issues as Nanacast has been to mine. In fact, I did a whole post on Nanacast tech support because I wanted to rave about them a bit.

Of the dozens of support tickets I have submitted, many of my suggestions have found their way into their development schedule, so I can literally say that I’ve played a small part in making Nanacast what it is today. I know many other merchants must have done the same.

Nanacast Review – Spend Some Time On The Site!

Rather than write one incredibly long ‘Nanacast Review’ post I instead decided to write on different aspects of Nanacast in separate posts around this site. So in the interests of keeping this short, please check out the other posts that address the specific questions you have regarding Nanacast.

Nanacast Affiliate Tracking

Nanacast Affiliate Tracking

Nanacast affiliate tracking is reportedly (by Nanacast themselves) the best affiliate tracking in the industry, and based on my experience so far, I can’t dispute that.

On the other hand, Clickbank also claims to have great tracking, and yet on one of the products I have listed with Clickbank, out of the last 21 sales, only 7 have been properly credited to an affiliate.

I’ll repeat that, because it truly is SHOCKING!

Out of the past 21 sales of one of my products, on Clickbank, only 7 have been properly logged to affiliates.

And for the record, I don’t send any of my own traffic to that offer. Zero. The only traffic is from affiliates.

Now a short term perspective might say “sweet – this is cool, I get the whole commission!” But really it completely sucks. As a product owner, there’s nothing I’d like more than to have an army of affiliates absolutely killing it promoting my offers. I WANT to pay them big checks, because their success is my success.

Unfortunately, if Clickbank isn’t tracking the sales properly, my affiliates have no idea their traffic is actually converting, and ultimately, they’ll abandon my products in favor of ones that do better for them.

So, our conclusion is that in order to be a properly successful product owner, you MUST be able to assure your affiliates every single sale they refer is being tracked properly. Even one or two sales missed could mean the difference between profit and loss on a PPC campaign.

Nanacast Affiliate Tracking

Which brings us to Nanacast…

Nanacast has an impressive list of tools they use to ensure that their affiliate tracking is the strongest in the industry.

For starters, they track both by IP and by Cookie. This means that they’re still able to capture those people that have cookies disabled on their browser. It also means they can accurately filter out affiliate theft (people buying through their own links through different browsers).

What this means in practical terms is that I make all my affiliate’s links go directly to an opt in page. The person they refer opts in, and that affiliate can happily walk away with their work being done.

I now have complete freedom to use whatever means I can to convince that prospect to purchase, via the use of my list. As soon as they do (purchase), they’re fully tracked by Nanacast, even months later. Good luck getting that to work with Clickbank!

In addition, with Nanacast affiliate tracking I can offer my affiliates backend commissions, for the life of that prospect. If someone buys from me once, and then buys a second product a couple months later, I can still pay that affiliate commissions on the second sale.

There are of course different philosophies on this. Some products with a well defined and highly converting funnel can afford to simply pay high commissions on the initial purchase, and then drop the cookie. A good example of this is Double Your Dating, where he was paying a 200% commission on the first sale.

When the funnel is less defined, and you still want to provide maximum value to your affiliate, offering lifelong tracking is an incredible way of doing that.

To me as a product owner, I can assure my affiliates that they’re going to get more and more value out of those initial prospects they send me as my business continues to grow, and at the end of the day, a happy affiliate means a happy me.

Prosper 202 and Nanacast

If you do any kind of PPC marketing, you likely swear by the importance of tracking your sales to the keyword and placement level. Currently, I’m using a free software package called Prosper 202 for most of my tracking. For the most part, it works alright, though there are a number of things I’d like to see improved. However, at the price, I’m not complaining. I also have Stats Junky, which I’m working on getting integrated with Nanacast, but its not there yet.

So for now, we’re dealing with Prosper 202, and today we’re going to talk about how to use it with Nanacast.

At the moment, Nanacast doesn’t have a .csv download option for your subids and sales tracking, so there’s really only one way to integrate Prosper 202 with Nanacast, and that is to use their (Prosper’s) tracking pixel. Although this is the only way, it also happens to be the best way, because sales stats are then sent to 202 automatically, in real time.

Thankfully, Nanacast makes it abundantly easy to use tracking pixels, regardless of your tracking software.

From the Merchant’s Perspective

Simply go to the thank you page of your product or membership, and add the line of code that Prosper 202 gives you.

I’ve included a screenshot of the code I’m using below.

As you can see, I’ve modified the code a little bit, to use one of the variables that Nanacast makes available on the thank you page. The {checkout_price} variable sends the full purchase price back to 202 as the value of the transaction – a very handy feature considering that my products all have different price points. Without this feature in place, 202 would get pretty cumbersome, pretty quick.

One thing to note about this is that if you have an upsell on the backend after your initial offer, ONLY the initial offer gets registered in 202. I think this has to do with their only recognizing each cookie once, in an attempt to prevent duplicate results. However, this means you don’t see your upsell values in your 202 reports.

Ok, so our tracking pixel is in place, now all you have to do is send a click & sale through your 202 links and as soon as the customer hits that thank you page, 202 will get pinged with the value of the transaction, and you’ll be able to track it.

As a side note, I’ve discovered that 202 records the sale on the day of the initial click, NOT the day the sale happens. This comes into play a lot more when a portion of your sales comes from the follow up list.

IMPORTANT:

It is important to note that in order to get your 202 codes registered in Nanacast right up front, you really should be directing your traffic through a Nanacast affiliate link prior to landing on your page.

So it the sequence looks like this:

Google > 202 link > Nanacast link > Landing Page > any amount of time > Purchase > Nanacast sends code back to 202.

From An Affiliate’s Perspective

If you’re an affiliate, promoting a Nanacast product, you can do everything I’ve mentioned above in exactly the same way. Nanacast makes it very easy and automated for affiliates to put their own tracking pixels onto the thank you page; something I haven’t seen in many other affiliate programs. Usually you have to talk to the affiliate manager or product owner directly to request this.

So as an affiliate, simply go and create a link campaign, and right in that screen there (Affiliate Promotion > Link Campaigns > Add New Link Campaign) you’re given the option to add 3rd party tracking code. I’m not sure if you can track the transaction value in the same way as the merchant though, you’d have to check with Nanacast on that.

As you can see, Nanacast has made it very easy to integrate these types of tracking codes into their system.
